How it works

You set it up. They play. The AI improvises inside rules you can read.

Coinsprout is designed so that the parent does the two-minute part, the kid does the fun part, and nothing with a consequence ever reaches child mode.

For parents

Three steps, expanded

  1. 1

    Set up your kid

Create a parent account with your email. Add a child with a nickname and an age band (6 to 8, 9 to 11, or 12 to 13). Tell us whether they get an allowance so missions can reference it. That is the entire setup, and it takes about two minutes.

    • You own the account. Kids never see a login screen.
    • A nickname is enough. We never ask for a full name.
    • Add up to 3 kids on Family or 6 on Grow.
  2. 2

    They play missions

Hand over the tablet or laptop. Your kid picks a world by tapping a picture and plays three decision turns plus a wrap-up. The AI plays the shopkeeper, the trader, the friend who wants to swap, and reacts to the exact choice your kid made.

    • Three to five minutes a mission.
    • Two choices per turn, plus one short typed answer about the story.
    • Ends with a kind debrief that names the skill.
  3. 3

    You get progress and questions

Log in to see a progress view for each of the five money skills, every debrief your kid has received, and the parent note that goes with it. Once a week we pull one conversation starter from what your kid actually did.

    • Progress per skill, not a score to compete on.
    • One dinner-table question a week.
    • Export or delete everything from Settings, any time.
A week in the life

What a normal week looks like

Two missions, one dinner question, a few minutes total. Here is one family, lightly fictionalized.

  1. Sat

Allowance day. Maya (8) plays The Lemonade Stand after breakfast. She keeps two coins back for tomorrow.

  2. Sun

Debrief lands in the parent view: earning plus a little planning. Parent note suggests asking what she would price a cup at next time.

  3. Tue

Maya plays The Trading Table. She takes the flashy deal. The AI shopkeeper does not scold, just shows what she gave up.

  4. Wed

At dinner, the weekly conversation starter: "Was there a trade this week that looked better than it was?" Maya has a story ready.

  5. Fri

Progress view shows spending nudging up. Saving still the strong one. The next suggested world is The Waiting Game.

The debrief

What a debrief looks like

Every mission ends with one of these. Kid-language, two to four sentences, the skill named, no shame.

The Lemonade StandEarningAges 6 to 8

Mission complete!

You bought lemons, picked a fair price, and sold eleven cups. When Mr. Patel offered the shiny cups for all your coins, you said no thanks and kept some back. That is earning: work, plus a little planning. The two coins you saved are tomorrow's lemons.

Parent note

Maya practiced earning and chose to hold money back for later, unprompted. Dinner question: "If you ran the stand again tomorrow, what one thing would you change?"

Why debriefs are shaped this way

  • What happened first

Kids remember the story. Anchoring the lesson to the exact choices they made is what makes it stick.

  • Then the why

The skill gets named in words the age band can repeat. A six-year-old hears "keeping some back for tomorrow." A twelve-year-old hears "opportunity cost."

  • Never a scold

If the kid took the flashy deal, the debrief says what they gave up and asks what they noticed. Mistakes are the lesson, not the verdict.

  • One question for you

The parent note always ends with a single question that comes from the mission, so the conversation at home starts with something real.
